ASC Works Toward Enhancing the Hospice Experience
When a dying patient wishes to remain in their home, it can place a heavy burden on families. Many families choose to have a homecare company alongside hospice to ease that burden. Adding that type of support can be a blessing during a very difficult time. If roles are not clearly understood, it can lead to confusion.
On November 7th, 2019, Alternative Senior Care invited five different hospice agencies to help us explore a holistic approach aimed at perfecting the family’s hospice experience.
The goal of the meeting was to clearly define and document roles and responsibilities of each entity involved in the hospice process. A role definition document is in process of being developed. Initially it will be shared between hospice and homecare agencies. Eventually it will also be versioned to include families.
Special thanks to all those who participated including St. Croix Hospice, CentraCare Hospice, Hospice of Douglas County, Knute Nelson Hospice and CHI Health At Home.
